These are music workshops that you specifically request. They can be based around ideas described in the ‘Off The Peg’ workshops or can be something completely different, not describe, which I can provide for you. I have the experience and success over the years of running workshops and groups for all types of composition and instrumental combination!! (See Workshop Experience)
‘Off The Peg’ WORKSHOPS – Volume 1
Rehearsal workshops around 'If Only' (for string ensembles)
Composition/Performance workshop based on techniques used in 'If Only' (ensemble/class)
Performing motif; arranging motific development ideas; creating & developing motific ideas; Creating Ground Bass; understanding suspensions
‘A’ Level: understanding motific development used through arranging and composing material; using ‘live’ instruments and/or software; developing understanding of suspension movement within music
GCSE: understanding motific development using arranging and composition templates; using ‘live’ instruments and/or software; composing/utilising Ground Bass structures
KS3: performing motific ideas from performance templates; creating simple motific development using composition templates; understanding Ground Bass structures through performance and composition
KS2: performing simple motifs from performance templates – based on song; composing simple Ground Bass ideas using composition templates
Rehearsal Workshop around 'Wake Up' (for string ensembles)
2 String Pieces - Volume 1
Piece 1: ‘If Only’ The music has been inspired by Baroque Period features ; luscious harmonic and melodic lines written over a Ground Bass; a Concerto Grosso type set up with a main string section and 2 soloists; use of suspensions adding emotional intensity into the music.
Piece 2: ‘Wake Up’ A fun piece of music that is fast and exciting. The main feature of this piece is pizzicato playing, imitative conversations between the instruments and the change of mood in the second section (G major to a modal scale based in E).

2 String Pieces - Volume 2
‘Pledge and ‘Tangoed’ are new pieces written for string ensembles in 2017. They have been arranged for full string groups including a viola and double bass part but also adapted so a violin III can be used or with the omission of a double bass to accommodate for different combinations.
Piece 1: ‘Pledge’ has been written for string orchestra as well as adapted for string quartet and quintet. it is a piece full of rich harmonic progressions and luscious melodies.
Piece 2: ‘Tangoed’ a fun tango based piece enriched with dissonant chords within a familiar chord progression . It is in two sections which are both developed with variations.
